Who and what we are
The IIT–London Chapter is a pan – IIT group representing Indian Institute of Technology residents in UK, The idea was originally initiated by a small group of IITians resident in London and held its first general meeting towards the end of 2000. It now serves as a focal point for alumni from all the IITs living in the UK.
What is IIT
Established as institutes of academic excellence, IITs have become synonymous with world-class technology and engineering education in India .
Apart from the globally renowned faculty and quality of education, diversity of students in terms of socio-economic background, culture, language and religions gives a unique advantage to IITians - the ability to manage and thrive in the fast globalizing economy.
Alumni of IITs lead some of the world's most prestigious companies, as well as non-profit organisations. It is estimated that almost half of all companies in the Silicon Valley in the USA are founded and headed by IIT alumni.
Our Aims And Objectives:
Our objectives are simple:
- To be a strictly secular group i.e. non- political, non- religious and with no other reservations.
- To provide networking opportunities for local IITians.
- To meet for the mutual enjoyment of each other’s company, to socialise, to help one another and to maintain contact with developments in all the IITs in India and other IIT alumni groups throughout the world.
- To raise the profile of IITs and IITians and India.
- Apart from interacting with each other on a social and professional basis, we aim to foster good relations with one another and with the community at large.
